odds and ends
As i promised in my last post, here is a picture of my nephew Dean. He's pretty adorable, too young to do anything crazy. He farts a lot, so we know he's not adopted. He's still pretty small here... I will be going home in July and by then he will probably be extra hilarious. If I know anything about babies, (which I don't) the older they get... the funnier they get. So look forward to more hilarious Dean posts in the future. | | Saturday, April 19th, 2008 | | 1:12 am |
My First Post of the year.
Yup i'm finally getting around to writing in my blog. It's been about 4 months since my last post. I recently bought a new computer and haven't put any recent pictures on it yet so those will be coming in a bit. So I have every intention of writing in my blog regularly. It's just things have been crazy. Mostly because of work, work keeps me busy and by the time I get home and eat, I'm pretty much done for the day. So there you have it, work is not the same as fun. Plus it smells funny. I did manage to pull a 4 day weekend over Easter, I met my nephew for the first time. His name is Dean and basically he poops and cries, not necessarily in that order. I have pictures so thats coming in the next post. Our sink broke, so we were without a kitchen sink for a couple weeks until we replaced it. I have a new appreciation for sinks. It was tax time. A year ago Adam was convinced our bunny Lenny was out to get him. I didn't believe him until lenny tried to eat his taxes. Then I found it endlessly funny that all his forms had tiny bite marks. This year Adam was smart enough to leave the forms on a table where lenny couldn't get to them. Although, unfortunately that table is next to the sink and during the whole 2008 kitchen sink replacement situation there was a water related incident. It's ok though, the papers dried, they were just a little wrinkly. Oh, and Lenny is still out to get Adam he recently peed on Adam's side of the bed. Adam was less than impressed. | | Saturday, December 22nd, 2007 | | 1:03 am |
Christmas things i took pictures of then accidently deleted.
So for my holiday blogs i took a bunch of pictures... then through miscommunication deleted all of them. Trust me no one was sadder than i. So i will describe what i remember. First i took pictures of the windows at the bay. This year the theme was Santas workshop. Seems fitting. there was a sort of story to go along with it, i didnt actually read it but i think i got the point. Santa has a workshop, thats where toys are made. Side note on the display that has just this years toys they play "Must be Santa" pretty much all day straight. I love xmas but this makes me want to punch someone... hard. Then I took some pictures of the holiday train. The holiday train is just a regular train, except it is covered in lights and it stops and some band gets out and plays. It raises money for something. I had a good time, but would have preferred a warmer day... but thats not the holiday trains fault. Adam and me setting up the tree... pretty standard tree setting up stuff. The big tree in the Eaton Centre. Imagine a big tree, cover it with shiny decorations and put it in a mall. Thats exactly what the picture was. The saddest of the deleted pictures... The parade!!! All pictures gone! It's ok though this years pictures werent that great. I'm sure i will find something in the next couple of days to make up for it. | | Saturday, December 8th, 2007 | | 12:53 am |
where have i been for the last three months?
I guess the last three months have really been about change. A lot has been happening lately. I spent a lot of time avoiding packing. I'm the type of person that waits for the last minute for just about everything. I had to unexpectedly go home. My nanna died and I didnt overly expect that to happen so soon. She was 91 so it was overly shocking, but nonetheless i was and still am completely devastated. She meant a lot to me and it will be weird to not have her there when i go home. I've been trying to think of something inspiring to write to capture how I feel about this, but I just cant think of the words. I think the weirdest part is I feel bad for the people that didnt get to experience knowing her. It really was an experience, no one is more entertaining or hilarious to be around. On the plus side I did get to go home and see the family. I got to spend time with my dog Kasey, I worry about her, she went blind in february, so since then whenever I go home i love spoiling her. She seems to be adapting well, except when she forgot where she was and jumped on the coffee table. It was sad but funny all at the same time. I got to spend a lot of time at mandy's new house. Sometimes even when mandy wasnt there. I'm creepy like that, busting into peoples houses to use photoshop and encore. Me and adobe Encore are currently not on speaking terms. My dad and I drove back to Toronto. I was really excited about getting to take some pictures on the way. The drive from Thunder Bay to Toronto is pretty, and i'd like to be able to prove it. However, it was not to be since most of the drive it was raining hard or just outright dreadful. The good news is me and my dad get along great so drive itself was fairly pleasant. Plus I got to drive, and since moving to toronto, driving has become a luxury. Once I got home, I had a lot of unfinished packing business, plus we got the keys to the new place. So the next few days were quite insane, there was painting, cleaning, packing and of course last minute shopping. In the end it all worked out well, our stuff got moved, the condo got painted and we by some miracle got the old apartment emptied out. It was so sad to see the apartment empty, I had lived there for a while, seen a lot of roommates come and go. We had a great time living in the beaches. My dad stayed for a pretty long time and did a lot of work for us. He drove us around all day, he painted everything. He was a big help. I have a new appreciation for home owners. We can't seem to fix anything ourselves, but i remember being a kid and anytime anything was broken my dad always seemed to know how to fix it. Whereas me and adam, not so much. Since my dad went home, productivity in finishing getting the condo ready has steadily declined. We are so close... theres only a couple boxes left... problem is i dont know where to unpack these boxes too, plus we have some awesome pictures to hang up, but that involves accuracy and measuring, so it's been slow going. Plus we have this ridiculous light fixture in the kitchen thats burned out that we cant seem change. On the plus side all of our furniture is assembled. I officially know every shortcut in ikea, so thats handy. The new place itself is great. It's very pretty, the condo looks really good. The kitchen is beautiful, so inspiring that i even use it to cook. Even lenny seems to enjoy the new place. With the exception of fire alarm day. I could really do without fire alarm day. It was also the day I made personal record in cursing. The area isnt as awesome as the beaches. But it is very practical, theres a lot of amenities around our building, a lot of shopping and places to eat. Plus theres a 24 hour bowling alley down the street. I love bowling, Wednesday is cheap night so I will have to investigate more into that. So with all that said, theres a lot to look forward to postwise in the future. Until the end of December my blog will be dedicated to all things Christmas. I love this time of year. | | Wednesday, September 5th, 2007 | | 8:34 am |
What is going on?
Well it's been two months since my last update. Which probably leads all readers to ask, hey kelly, "what's the dealio?" Well I've been pretty distracted. I'm moving soon and therefore seem to have moving on the brain. Plus since its my last summer living in the beaches, or the beach, whichever you prefer, i've been trying to enjoy summer. Oh and i did go home for preggers(i have made the executive decision to call my sister preggers until feb.) yard sale. I made 5 dollars, two of which were immediately spend on a snow cone down the street. So i have a backlog of pictures, which i will upload... eventually. | | Thursday, July 5th, 2007 | | 11:52 am |
The last two months
I have noticed I haven't really posted in about to months. So here's the rundown on what has happened. Which really isn't much. Here's a picture of me at the zoo in front of a dinosaur. I don't think it is a real dinosaur. I don't think real dinosaurs would live in tents and it would probably be best to keep real dinosaurs behind bars or something. Adam and me went on a tour of the CBC during Doors open toronto. We went to the museum, here's us in front of Mr. Dressups treehouse. Here is a shot looking down in the CBC building. When my parents came to town we took a tour of the city. Here is Michelle having the time of her life in a fake trolley. Here's me and Michelle enjoying the wind and view from the double decker bus. Now for my personal favourite, here's a picture of Adam after he realized he forgot about free burger day at Harveys. | | Friday, May 11th, 2007 | | 1:38 pm |
My Lucky Day
Last night I had a dream I won the lottery on a Cash for Life scratch ticket. I don't really every buy scratch tickets, but was bored, so this morning I went to the store to buy one. They didn't have those specific tickets so I picked up an Instant Millions ticket instead. I won 5 dollars... which is the price of the ticket, so technically I didn't lose anything. Then a little later I was at shoppers and they actually had the cash for life tickets so I bought one. Then i went to the park sat on a bench and scratched it and won 4 dollars... which was the price of the ticket. So i went back to the store and got another one. They lady told me to dream bigger. So I did. I won 7 dollars. So i went back got 3 dollars and another ticket. Then I won 7 dollars again! so i went back and got another ticket and another 3 dollars. Then I stopped winning. Then I went back to the first place and got another instant millions ticket... I didn't win again. In the end I came out 1 dollar ahead. My dream came true I really was going to win the lottery. I haven't decided how to spend it yet. Maybe I will invest it. Moral of the story is dreams really do come true. | | Saturday, May 5th, 2007 | | 8:30 am |
My dream
Last night I had a dream that my Uncle John ate my book of Mad Libs and therefore ruined Christmas. | | Tuesday, April 10th, 2007 | | 2:34 am |
At home for Easter
I am currently back at home for Easter and loving every minute of it. So much so, that i'm staying a few extra days to make sure I don't miss any excitement. So far I haven't really done a whole lot. Highlights include, going out with Nat and Sue, the movies with Kris and Greg, picking out paint with my dad, my doggy Kasey, the spinach balls and fruit cups I made for Easter, Easter Sunday in general, and finally going to the pet store with Mandy and getting her fish, Foo, a new plant. Apparently he rather enjoys the new plant. Foo really isn't afraid of change. He soaks it in. Now I know not a lot can beat buying fish accessories, but just wait, Wednesday night is the 2nd ever Quip it tournament. So obviously that will be the high point of the week. | | Monday, March 19th, 2007 | | 12:45 pm |
Public Transportation Is Vital For A Cleaner Environment
I had a very relaxing night out for St. Patty's day. Very normal and uneventful. The ride home gave me something to think about. Many people asleep on the subway. One girl with her head in between her legs, I'm proud of her she didn't get sick the whole ride home. One guy being told by his friends to stand up because he could make it. That's what I love about Toronto. No matter how bad off people are they will still brave the subway home. There is no designated driver, people just tough it out on public transportation no matter how long it takes to get home. Then when you get out of the subway, more drunk people roaming the street, walking the rest of the way home. These people aren't just drunk, they care about the environment. I salute them. | | Monday, February 12th, 2007 | | 6:58 pm |

The Adoption of Lenny
This weekend me and Adam fell in love with a bunny. His name is Lenny, he's two months old and we found him on the Humane Society webpage. We don't know a lot about bunnies, so Sunday morning we went to the humane society and asked all our rabbit related questions. We loved the little guy. The people were really nice and we learned a lot. After spending the rest of the day out in the cold all over town looking for pet stores, we found a super cheap starter kit with a proper sized cage. It was such a deal, that we bought it without considering how to bring it home. When Adam was carrying it, it looked like a box with legs. Quite funny. The kit came with pretty much everything. We did buy him a house and we still need to pick up a litter pan. So Tuesday was the big day. We went on Adams lunch to adopt Lenny. It took a while, luckily Adam could stay. I couldn't do it without him, they needed his ID. We promised to get him fixed when he's old enough. So once the adoption process was complete they put Lenny in a box, we made a donation and we were on our way. I took a cab to Adam's place and got Lenny set up in his new home. He was upset and scared. Just sat in his house most of the time. Eventually he got more comfortable and started exploring. He is still pretty nervous, but is starting to warm up to us. Here's a picture of Lennywinks Garner that was on the Humane Society website. | | Friday, January 12th, 2007 | | 1:33 pm |
My Xmas review
Well with the holiday season behind, it's time to look back at all the memories. MY CHRISTMAS MEMORIES 1. There was the parade. Everyone enjoys a good xmas parade. Thumbs down to the peanuts that came, shame on you people could be allergic. Thumbs up to the vegetables driving a car and the Kool Aid man for keeping things real. 2. Roommate Xmas. 3. Mandy and Ryan had a party. 4. Alex's hockey game. 5. I went swimming in a pool. 6. Drove my dad's new car. 7. My new pink guitar. 8. We bowled to the tunes Greg picked out. 9. Ate lots and lots of food. 10. Baked some bread. 11. Boston Pizza with Erin, Adam and Karling. 12. Lots of new pairs of socks. 13. Baked way to much for xmas dinner 14. I met lenny for the first time. 15. Took my dog on many walks, even a car ride. 16. Ate some of dad's retirement ice cream cake. 17. Got to check out the beautiful new hospital. Very spacious. 18. The many concerts performed by my sister. 19. One amazing game of quip it. I recommend the game quip it. stop what you are doing and go to the store and buy it. You need about 5 people to play it, so make some friends, it's worth it. 20. The lack of sleep at the airport because i stayed up to late playing Quip It the night before. | | Sunday, November 12th, 2006 | | 11:52 pm |
General every day post.
We went to the Remembrance Day Ceremony at Old City Hall yesterday. I was impressed by the turnout. It was a little rainy and a little cold but a good ceremony none the less. Since we were already downtown we did a bit of shopping. It's that time of year, where I face crowded malls and buy things for others. It was exhausting. I'm not even remotely close to being finished. The season is just beginning and I expect many Christmas related adventures in the upcoming weeks. On a side note, I sat on a chocolate cookie and it melted on the pocket of my jeans. What a waste of a perfectly good cookie. | | 11:41 pm |
Halloween Party
So here's the long overdue post from our Halloween party. Really there's not much I can think of to write about the party. We wore costumes, ate food, watched zombie movies and of course reflected on life. A few pictures to remember the event... Here's our awesome table of food. Here's Adam as Elvis. He worked pretty hard on that wig. Michelle went as the much loved robot Vici the Robot from the always classic show, Small Wonder. Me and Jill are both superheroes and super awesome. | | Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 | | 10:15 pm |
a post
I keep signing in and trying to think of something to write. There really isn't a lot to say. Work takes up most of my day, as it does with most people. Although, I'm more than halfway done my contract so I guess I will be unemployed soon enough. Then I will have a lot more free time to dedicate to the art of blogging. I recently had a cold that lasted about 4 weeks. It was rediculous. If there's one thing I've learned, I do not like 4 week colds. Halloween is fast approaching. We haven't really decided on anything for the party... except that we are having a party. I haven't really invited to many people. I'm somewhat worried about a lack of space. The important thing is I have a costume. So the hardest part has been taken care. After a few minor adjustments, Adam's costume will be ready. He needs a belt. I will update more about Halloween later. My parents came down for thanksgiving weekend. My dad recently bought a brand new car. It's awesome, I can't wait until I go home and get to drive it. Well I'm off to bed. | | Friday, September 15th, 2006 | | 10:26 pm |
An update
I haven't been around my computer too much lately, so it's time for a little catch up. Adam and I went to the CNE, we saw a dog show, we got lost a few times, played bingo and saw wonderful fireworks. I started working, for a limited time. Got myself a three month contract doing the same sort of thing as the last job. I went with Adam to his work's wrap party. Unfortunately, a lot of the pictures of us looking gorgeous didnt turn out so well... it was camera issues, not us. Now most importantly, the highlight of the last couple of weeks... Adam and me were on our way to Blockbuster, when we saw a frog about the size of my hand hopping down the sidewalk, then it took a quick left into an erotic novelty boutique which conveniently had the door wide open. The lady inside working was none to impressed. PRICELESS! | | Wednesday, August 16th, 2006 | | 3:18 pm |
I'm going to post something
I thought i would stop in and write something. It's important to keep the readers interested, readers being pretty much just Mandy and Allison. Well let's see... My home phone has been down for about one month. However, now it works again. THat's pretty exciting. I've been playing a lot of chess lately. I lose every time. Games aren't overly fun when you lose every time. It actually makes me quite angry. I went to the Taste of the Danforth. It was really busy. Ate a pita, then followed that up with some ice cream. Then went home, watched Heart of Gold, that Neil young concert DVD. I thought the DVD was fantastic, but i've had a song in my head for a couple days now and its driving me nuts. Oh, I saw Superman in Imax 3d. My glasses set of an alarm on my way to the bathroom. That was my brush with the law. Luckily, everyone survived. Turns out you have to leave the glasses at the door. The easiest way to teach me that lesson would be to have a sign that says please leave your glasses here. Although, I suppose having a powerful and expensive alarm system is just as effective. | | Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006 | | 11:16 am |
Thunder Bay
Recently, Adam and I made a trip to Thunder Bay. Adam stayed for the weekend, while I stayed for about 9 days. It's always nice to spend time at home. It was Adam's first plane ride and I'm proud to say he was very brave. Let's see... we ate a lot, saw all the tourist things, spent some quality time with my dog. We played cranium, went swimming out at camp. Me and my dad went bowling. Long story short, it was a nice and relaxing vacation from my long days of doing nothing. Next time I go home it will be winter so it's nice to be able to spend time at home when it's not freezing and covered in lots and lots of snow. Here's a beautiful shot of us enjoying nature. Adam is getting ready to paddle a birch bark canoe. Here I am at Hillcrest Park. Finally something that really makes you think. In a visitor centre we found this beaver, covering his ears. Disturbing. |
